In colder climates, we do recommend sowing indoors to give them a head start 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost date. In Spring, transplant seedlings outdoors in a part sun location, avoiding afternoon sunlight. In warmer climates, Violas can be sown directly outdoors in late Winter or Fall, again avoid the hot afternoon sun. Water regularly until established. Once mature, Violas can tolerate more dry soil.
